FREESTYLE is particularly characterized by its dynamic external shape. The shape is made up of four irregular polygons of the same size, which, when fused together, form the present wooden panel.
The task was to design 20 different works, under two conditions: First, the limitation to 3 colors: terracotta, apricot and light yellow. Secondly, maintaining the basic polygonal modules when designing the internal structure. The aim was to explore what creative scope there is within this system. As expected, there is an almost endless wealth of design options, only some of which were finally realized.
The 20 FREESTYLE panels invite the viewer to compare them. A careful look at the internal structures enables the formation of groups. There are motifs on which the center point of the pattern is in the upper half and on others in the lower half. On some works the four initial modules that make up the entire shape are outlined and clearly visible, on others this is difficult to see. And there are works on which the motif gives you the illusion of three-dimensionality, while other motifs appear completely flat.
